WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Who could benefit from Room to Breathe’s services?

Just some of the people who may benefit from Room to Breathe’s services are:

  • Busy parents who have little time to clear clutter, whether it be toys and children’s clothes or to make space for a new arrival.

  • Those with mental health problems like depression or anxiety; as a messy home can worsen symptoms and clearing the mess can seem overwhelming.

  • Those with mobility problems; whether these be permanent or temporary mobility problems can mean that the physical act of clearing clutter can be too exhausting.

  • The elderly; clutter can be created over a few months or many many years and sometimes trying to work through these items when downsizing or moving into sheltered accommodation or a home can seem too emotionally or physically overwhelming.

  • Those who have lost a parent or relative; having to deal with a loved ones clutter while also grieving can be painful and a professional declutterer can make this job more manageable.

  • Anyone else who feels that an area (or all of their house) is being taken over with clutter and feels overwhelmed by where to start.

  • Of course! Room to Breathe offers a free consultation which can either be completed remotely or in your home. Letting someone into your home is a big step, especially when they could be going through your rooms and helping you to decide what goes and what stays! Because of this, it’s vital that not only are you sure this service is right for you, but that you also trust Katie to help you through your decluttering and organising journey. The consultation not only ensures you get to know Katie but also allows her to assess your needs and tailor her services to work best for you.

  • Room to Breathe is based in Warwick, close to the M40, M5 and M6. Because of this central location, Katie can travel to most places in the UK to help her clients. Any travel further than 20-miles from Warwick will incur a charge which will be included in the quotation of services.

  • Once you've decided to work with Room to Breathe and a quote has been agreed, you will be asked to sign a contract before any work starts. 50% deposit will also be taken at this time to save the date. Cancellations that occur before 30 days can have their deposit fully refunded, before 14 days 50% of the deposit can be refunded, any later than this no refund will be given but if rebooked on the day of cancellation the 50% can be moved to that day.No refund if cancelled twice. Payment can be taken by BACs transfer or PayPal.

  • Katie will always have a kit in her car, which contains most items that will be needed while reorganising your home. These include storage boxes of various sizes, hangers and vacuum pack bags. Dependant on your service and quote these may be included or may be charged as extra. Nothing will be used before speaking to the client, though. Katie will also be able to suggest larger storage options if needed.

  • Katie will deal with all items that need taking away from the property. One of the biggest pitfalls of decluttering is leaving the discarded items in the house. This makes it very easy to sneak things back in or for children to find items ‘they must keep hold of’. Please see Room to Breathes sustainability policy to understand how items will be discarded. Room to Breathe also has a service which means that they can sell any high ticket items on your behalf. Please contact us for more information

  • Yes! Decluttering and reorganising is different for every household. What one person might want to keep is not the same as another person. For the decluttering process to work, and for the house to stay tidy once Katie leaves, the person or people who use the chosen space needs to be the one to decide what they want to discard and what they want to keep. Katie’s role is to encourage and delve into the reasons why clutter is being kept hold of. Katie may take some time towards the end of the service to ensure the full process has been completed but for the most part, the service will be a collaborative journey.

  • It’s always a great idea to get children involved in decluttering so they learn valuable lessons for life but, if you are decluttering a room the whole family uses then it may be useful for just the adults to be available to make the decisions on what stays and what goes. If you are working on a childs bedroom or a playroom however, I’d definitely recommend getting the kids involved. Katie has an 8 year old daughter so is very happy to work with children and is DBS registered.
